The Grammys 2025

The 2025 Grammys was held last Sunday, February 2nd.

Before the night started, I had a few people I thought deserved a win for their work this year. Historically, the Grammys are known for snubbing great artists and (black artists) if we’re being honest. But, I had high hopes for Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Charli XcX, Sabrina Carpenter, and Doechii. Beyoncé now 35x Grammy went home with “Album of the Year”, “Best Country Album”, and “Best Country Duo”. Cowboy Carter was a beautiful ode to black people in country music, country music as a whole, and Texas. The album is cohesive, emotional, and well-produced all across while telling a story as Album of the Year should do. Sitting with 35 Grammys, Beyoncé holds the most of any artist; and she deserved every single one!
Kendrick Lamar won five Grammys that night for “Not Like Us”: “Record of the Year”, “Song of the Year”, “Best Music Video”, “Best Rap Song”, and “Best Rap Performance”. “Not Like Us” also being the first diss song to win a “Best Rap Song” Grammy. As he and Beyoncé won, the crowd cried and sang along to their big hits, celebrating great black history in our month. Doechii is the third woman ever to win “Best Rap Album” for her album Alligators Bites Never Heal, specifically black woman as the last two female winners were Cardi B and Lauryn Hill.
Of course, the pop girls like Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XcX got their well-deserved flowers and first Grammys ever for their breakout summer albums, Short n’ Sweet, and BRAT respectively.
